Our boutique resort in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on the beautiful Eden Isle, has been an oasis of serenity for over 60 years. Founded with a vision of gracious living, owners Dick and Patti Upton are dedicated to providing you with amazing experiences in this little bit of paradise.
Touches of the Old World blend with natural wood, native stone, and lush landscaping to create a quiet elegance. Our restaurant overlooking Greers Ferry Lake features fine dining and the lovely views this Heber Springs resort is famous for.

Heber Springs offers several scenic hiking trails for active guests, such as Collins Creek and Bridal Veil Falls. The Carl Garner Visitor Center provides an excellent hiking trail just off the cliffs overlooking the river. For the more adventurous, Heber Springs also offers a hiking trail up Sugar Loaf Mountain for stunning lake and town views.

The Legacy of Red Apple Inn: A Premier Heber Springs Resort
Red Apple Inn’s story begins with Herbert L. Thomas and his wife Ruby, two of Arkansas’ most determined builders. In 1961, the Thomases purchased 500 acres of wooded hills near Heber Springs and set out to create the finest vacation destination in the Ozark foothills. The inn opened in 1963, burned in a kitchen fire in 1964, and reopened the following year. Ruby Thomas ran the kitchen herself and later published a cookbook, Feasts of Eden, featuring recipes still used at the inn today.
In 1995, Dick and Patti Upton, the Heber Springs residents behind Aromatique, purchased the inn for $4.2 million and invested millions more in restoring a property that had fallen into disrepair. They preserved original European touches the Thomases had brought back from their travels, including a 16th-century wrought-iron gate from Spain. Herbert Thomas passed away in 1982, but the Uptons have carried forward his vision for Eden Isle, and Red Apple Inn remains a cornerstone of Heber Springs hospitality.

The History of Eden Isle
Eden Isle was not always an island. Before Greers Ferry Dam was completed in 1962, this land was a stretch of wooded hills along the Little Red River. Once the lake filled in, roughly 100 acres of the Thomases’ original property went underwater, and what remained became the peninsula that Eden Isle is today. That history is part of what makes Red Apple Inn more than a resort. It is a place shaped by the land and the lake around it.
